Al-Qisc is the official mobile application of the AIU Al Quran and Islamic Club at Albukhary International University. It provides the Quran, prayer times, athkar, an ibadah tracker, and official club announcements. This policy describes what the application does and does not do with data.
Summary
Al-Qisc does not require an account, does not collect personal data, and does not use advertising or analytics. Everything you do in the app stays on your device.
Data stored on your device only
The following information is created by you and never leaves your device:
- Quran bookmarks, reading position, and reader preferences
- Ibadah tracker actions, completion history, notes, and reminders
- Prayer calculation settings (location choice, calculation method, madhhab)
- Notification and reminder preferences
- Language and theme preferences
- Tasbih counters
Uninstalling the application permanently deletes all of this data. There is no server copy and therefore nothing for the club to delete on your behalf; deletion is fully in your control.
Prayer times and Qibla
Prayer times are calculated on the device from a fixed campus location or the location setting you choose manually. The application does not access GPS and does not track your position. The Qibla compass uses the device compass heading only; heading data is processed on the device and never stored or transmitted.
Club content
Announcements, events, and official club media are read from Google Firebase (Cloud Firestore) as published public content. Reading this content is anonymous: the application sends no identity, and the club cannot see who read what. Standard network metadata (such as your IP address) is processed by Google's infrastructure to serve the request, as with any internet service. Google's privacy policy applies to that processing.
Quran font downloads
On some installations the application downloads Quran page fonts from our public font repository (hosted on GitHub) or public content delivery networks. These are anonymous file downloads; the hosting providers process standard network metadata to serve them.
Notifications
Prayer alerts and ibadah reminders are local notifications scheduled on your device. They do not involve any messaging service and no notification data leaves the device.
Permissions
- Notifications: to deliver prayer alerts and reminders you enable
- Exact alarms (Android): so the adhan fires at the exact prayer minute
- Network access: to fetch club content and Quran fonts
The application does not request access to contacts, camera, microphone, files, or precise location.
Children
The application contains religious reference content and club announcements only, with no chat, no user-generated content, and no data collection. It is suitable for general audiences.
Changes
If a future version adds capabilities that process personal data (for example optional club push notifications), this policy will be updated before release and the application will ask for consent where required.
